Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the sister science of Yoga and is the traditional medicine of India.
It is a powerful natural healing system for the body, mind and spirit with depth parallel to the Yoga tradition.

Like Yoga, Ayurveda covers a wide range of health practices from diet, herbs, exercise, body treatments, and detoxification programmes to life-style management regimes all based on the three individual body constitutions.

Ultimately, Ayurveda has 2 main focus.
The health of our digestive function which leads to cellular and organ vitality.

UNDERSTANDING THE 3 DOSHA AND BODY TYPES

Ayurveda is based on the 5 elements of Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.  From these we arrive to 3 doshas (body types) as outlined below.  Understanding this allows us to understand our tendencies, preference and a lifestyle we feel comfortable in.  They also help explain our differences and why we veer towards certain food groups and how they affect our individual digestive process and metabolism.

SEASONAL ROUTINE, LIFESTYLE, DIET AND BODY THERAPIES

As the seasons change, the body, it's digestive fire and metabolic activity also changes.  All body types behave differently and for our inner wellbeing it is important to adjust our seasonal routine and diet to meet the changes required in the body.

In winter, it is important to start to retreat away and make time for reflection and containment.
In the spring, ayurveda says we should explore
In the summer, we live
In Autumn we nourish and honour the change.

As well as changing diet, Ayurveda also suggest we look at how we nourish our bodies and treat our bodies.
Body Therapies are not seen as a "treat", but a necessary ingredient to self care and self worth.  Oils used are medicated with nourishing and rejuvenating herbs, so we are feed from outside in.

If Ayurveda intrigues you, do get in touch !
We can carry out an individual assessment on your body type and what your daily regime should look like.
